President, Zern Associates, Inc.

Kristin Zern has been a travel marketing executive for the past 35 years holding executive marketing positions in several segments of the travel industry. She was CEO of a family travel tour operator, was a consultant to several resorts in Spain and Portugal as well as several airlines re the family market, sales director for a Caribbean resort, and VP at a company specializing in worldwide luxury condominium vacations.

She was also the Editor and Publisher of Family Travel News rated as a top 10 travel newsletter by Travel & Leisure. Zern was the Director of Travel Marketing at Berlitz Publishing Company for 14 years, where she developed a 3 million dollar profit center from scratch. She has been the Executive Director of the Association of Travel Marketing Executives (ATME) since 1992 where she is responsible for all the educational programs and events including the annual conference. She is also responsible for all of ATME's publications and products, including the website, newsletters, publications and social media.

Zern has guided ATME through its first endeavors in Social Media, including Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin working on a daily hands-on basis. For the past 5 years she has developed educational programming to help travel industry marketing executives understand how best to use social media effectively.
Zern consults with clients to help them strategize about how to best use social media and to implement the marketing strategies. Zern helps create relevant content and works to increase followers and friends from databases of appropriate and interested potential followers.

Ms. Zern has been on several industry boards and committees including ASTA's Allied Committee, US Travel's Marketing Committee, ATME's Board, and the Executive Committee of the Academy of Travel & Tourism.

Background: 30 years creative sales promotion experience at Newsweek and Time, Inc. (Money Magazine, Fortune,) including positioning platforms, sales strategies, product development, creative copy, demographic analysis, sales presentations, innovative online contests, public relations, corporate executive speeches. Other clients include Smart Money, Astronomy, Museums New York, Spanish National Tourist Office, Bloomberg publications. Articles on travel and culture in numerous national newspapers and magazines. Awarded major international journalism prize for articles on cultural tourism in the New York Times.

Brook was knighted in 2008 by the King of Spain for the dissemination of Spanish culture in the U.S. for the past 40 years. Brook also brings his 30 years of advertising experience (Time, Inc.) to Zern Associates as EVP. Kristin and Brook have lived and traveled extensively in Europe and Spain and divide their time between their offices on Martha's Vineyard, Larchmont, NY and Andalucia, Spain. Education: BA, English and Comparative Literature, Columbia College, NY, NY; lecturer at numerous universities, teach graduate course at CUNY.
